Bespoke Creation

Stateside industry giants Volkswagen of America needed a unique training experience to support the rollout of the fantastic New VW Arteon.

We brought our Learning and Development teams together to create the ultimate blended learning experience – and give VW a product that not only delivered the goods, but gave staff and customers that awe-inspired ‘wooooow’ moment we got when we first looked at Arteon!

Augmented Reality for
Kinaesthetic Learning

Through a complementary creative and development approach, our teams used cutting-edge WebGL to create a 360º digital version of the car that could be explored, rotated, and even personalised in a ‘hands-on’ fashion, allowing users to get up close and personal with the Arteon. Staff could also interact with ‘hotspots’ on the real life Arteon in their dealership through their mobile-device camera, accessing different pieces of learning on its features, functions, and customer benefits.

To further enhance the experience, we harnessed the well-documented advantages of collaborative learning, allowing users across different dealerships, cities and states to engage in ‘group learning’, such as live polls and word games, fostering a sense of cohesion and unity! Through a mixture of guided and exploratory learning, users got to truly feel out the benefits of this amazing new vehicle.

Generating Excitement

Prior to the app’s release on scheduled training days across North America, we sent pre-event ‘teaser’ invitations to all delegates. 

This gave users access to the 3D model of the Arteon, creating a sense of hype and excitement, and disrupting any potentially negative preconceptions that staff may have about training. The app was designed not only to train VW staff, but to be used as a sales tool to enhance their customers’ experiences; so practical demonstrations and use of the app on the shop floor were integrated into the training.
